        Material Media Player is a local video player. It is designed to play video files stored on

The App accesses the following information solely on your device:

Media Files: The App reads video files from your device's storage to display and play your local video library.
Video Metadata: File names, durations, folder paths, and thumbnails are read from your device to organize and display your video library.
Playback Progress: Your watch position and resume state are saved locally on your device, so you can pick up where you left off.
App Preferences: Settings such as your chosen theme, color palette, and layout preferences are stored locally on your device.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services to enhance your experience and improve app quality:

TMDB (The Movie Database)

The App sends parsed movie or TV show titles (derived from your file names) to the TMDB API to fetch rich metadata such as posters, backdrops, descriptions, and release dates. No personal information, device identifiers, or file paths are sent. Only the extracted title and year (if available) are transmitted. Fetched metadata is cached locally on your device to minimize network requests.

Google Firebase

The App uses the following Firebase services provided by Google:

Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymous usage data such as app opens, screen views, and general engagement patterns. This helps us understand how users interact with the App so we can improve it. No personally identifiable information is collected.
Firebase Crashlytics: Automatically collects crash reports and diagnostic data when the App encounters an error. This includes device model, OS version, and stack traces. This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs.
Firebase Performance Monitoring: Collects anonymous performance data such as app startup times and network latency to help us optimize the App's speed and responsiveness.

All Firebase data is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy. You can review it at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Data Collection & Sharing

We do not collect any personally identifiable information.
We do not track your viewing habits or video content.
We do not use advertising SDKs or show ads.
We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We do not require account creation or login.
Anonymous analytics and crash data are collected via Firebase as described above, solely to improve app quality.

Data Storage & Security

All app-generated data — including your playback history, preferences, and cached metadata — is stored entirely on your device. This data is private to the App and is not accessible by other applications.

Anonymous analytics and crash data sent to Firebase are stored on Google's servers and handled according to Google's security practices and privacy policy.

Uninstalling the App will permanently remove all locally stored data.

Permissions

Media Access: Required to access and display your video files. Without this permission, the App cannot function. On Android 14+, you can choose to grant access to only specific media files.
Internet: Used for fetching movie and TV show metadata from TMDB, and for sending anonymous analytics and crash reports via Firebase.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since the App does not collect personally identifiable data from any user, no special provisions are necessary.
